Late Shri.K.R.Narayanan former President of India, performed the inauguration of the International Centre for Sree Narayana Guru Studies at Gururdevagiri (Nerul, Navimumbai) on 12th February 2005. Eminent Personalities from different walks of life like Shri.Ganesh Naik, Minister, Excise & Enviornment, Govt. of Maharashtra, Shri.Sanjiv Naik (Mayor, Navi Mumbai), Swami Sudhananda (Sivagiri Mutt), Swami Sachidananda (Gayathri Ashram, Chalakkudi), Prof.M.K.Sanoo, Justice K.Sukumaran, Dr.Vijayalayam Jayakumar, Shri.B.Aravindakshan (Gen.Secretary, Sree Narayana World Council, New York) also attended the function.

The international center is designed to be a center forresearch on philosophy. A World Class Library has been set up on the 3rd floor of the Gurudevagiri building. it has about 50000 books which include books by variuos authors on the life, teachings and philosophy of Sree Narayana Guru. It also hoises all books authored by Sree Narayana Guru and its translations and commentaries. the library has also variuos other books on vedic literature, world religions, philosophy, history, psychology, etc.Steps have been initiated to start research work by registration of PhD students. Manipal University is considering to approve this SNMS facility as a research center on Philosophy. The International Centre also organizes Seminars and conferences on related subjects such as religious harmony, world peace,and environmental issues. The Centre will also works towards globalization of Gurus teachings and philosophy and acts as a nucleus of all Sree Narayana Guru organizations across the world.

The International cenetr also hosts the yearly "Theerthadanam" (pilgrimage) on the lines of "Sivagiri Theerthdanam" prescribed by Sree Narayana Guru. It is held on the Prathishta day (Consecration day of Gurudevagiri temples) which falls in the month of February. It is a three day celebration including procession with participation of thousadns of devotees from all over India. Conferences on the themes prescibed by Guru, cultural festivals, etc, are a;so organizedn with participation of dignitaries.

The international center also has the unique distinction of holding the only relics of Sree narayana Guru in the form of "holyteeth" kept in a golden casket secured in a separate temple. The relics are taken out for public viewing once a year during the Theerthadanam.
